However it can be difficult to find funding for safety improvements such as guardrails signs and pedestrian crossings while attempting to maintain the condition of roads within a jurisdiction. In response to this problem initiatives such as the High Risk Rural Road (HRRR) Program and the Local Safety Program are available to provide funding for improving the safety of intersections and roadways in Michigan.
