Dr. David Jones, University of California – Davis will present how to use performance-based specifications to reduce your maintenance costs and improve the performance of your gravel roads. He will discuss the small changes to your existing test methods that will give you the data you need to better understand and predict how your roads will perform and what you can do to improve that performance. You’ll learn how to combat common performance problems like washboarding, raveling, eroding surfaces, and excessive dust. Web-based tools for blending gravel and chemical treatment selection will be demonstrated.
